The agency describes who made the arrest; it does not decide the final court. A felony indictment is maintained by Superior Court. A misdemeanor accusation is ordinarily in State Court. How a Chatham Criminal Case Moves
An arrest or citation can begin the process, but prosecutors decide what to file. A felony may proceed by grand-jury indictment; a misdemeanor can proceed by accusation. Use that city channel for a Savannah Recorder's Court matter. Pooler and Port Wentworth maintain their own municipal routes. If a jury demand, transfer, bound-over charge, or indictment moves the matter, continue in State or Superior Court under the new case number.

A municipal court page is a routing and procedure source, not a substitute for the filed Chatham County case docket after transfer.
Case Record Access & Restrictions
The Georgia Open Records Act supports access to public agency records, while court access also follows judicial rules and orders. Juvenile material, protected victim or minor information, personal identifiers, security-sensitive records, and court-sealed files may be withheld or redacted. An online view can also contain fewer documents than the clerk's official file.
Georgia record restriction under O.C.G.A. ยง 35-3-37 concerns eligible arrest-cycle information in GCIC dissemination. Sealing a related clerk file is a separate court process. If a disposition is absent from a personal GCIC review, obtain the certified disposition from the proper clerk and ask the reporting agency to correct the state record.
A focused request helps the Chatham County clerk distinguish public material from protected content. State the court, case number, party name, and exact document, such as an indictment, plea, judgment, or sentence. Ask whether an electronic plain copy will meet the need or whether a certified copy is required for the intended official process. If the clerk withholds or redacts material, the reason may arise from a sealing order, juvenile confidentiality, victim protections, or identifiers embedded in an otherwise public filing. The absence of a document from the portal can instead be a coverage or storage issue, so confirm the reason with the custodian before assuming the whole case is restricted.
Federal Cases in Savannah

Search the federal system separately when the charge was brought by the United States. A related local arrest or investigation does not make the federal indictment part of a Chatham County clerk file.
